St. John Chrysostom addressing Empress Eudoxia at the Synod of the Oak

According to OrthodoxWiki, "the Synod of the Oak was a local synod of the Church of Constantinople that was held in July 403 in the suburb of Chalcedon called “The Oak”. The synod resulted in the condemnation and deposition of John Chrysostom as Archbishop of Constantinople".

I happened to stumble across this interesting biography of St. John Chrysostom, split into chapters, on a Romanian Orthodox website. In chapter 7 on the Synod of the Oak St. John was called to answer for speaking insults against the Empress Eudoxia, it states the following:

"If I have spoken words of insult against my Lord Jesus, He will Himself punish me; but if it is about a man and even more so if it is about a woman, than for this thing I will not say any word."

Redpilled on the woman question.

Racial themes of good and evil (Part V)

An excerpt from "The Spiritual Meadow" by John Moschos, Chapter 66. The life of Abba Theodosios the Solitary

Abba Anthony, superior and builder of the Lavra of the Æolites, told us this about Abba Theodosios the solitary. He said: Before taking up the solitary life, I went into a trance and saw a young man whose appearance was brighter than the sun. He took me by the hand and said to me: 'Come, for you must fight', and he led me into an amphitheater larger than words could describe. I could see that the theatre was full of men, those on the one side dressed in white whilst those on the other side were black-faced ones. As he led me to the sanded pit of theatre I saw a black-faced man of exceedingly large stature whose head stood as high as the clouds, strong and ugly. Then the youth whom I saw in the vision said to me: 'It is with that one that you must fight'. When I saw the man, I was horror-struck; I began to quake and to be terrified. I started pleading with him who had brought me there, saying: 'What man who is merely mortal could strive with that one? [Not even the whole human race put together could withstand this fellow'. But the noble youth said to me:] 'Go in with confidence, for when you have joined in combat with him, it is I who shall decide the result and award the victor's crown.' Almost as soon as I had gone into the sanded pit and we had come to grips with each other, the noble umpire came at once, made his decision and awarded me the crown. The faction of the black-faced ones disappeared with moaning and groaning. The other faction, consisting of those who wore white, shouted their approval of the umpire and of him who had awarded me an auspicious victory.

According to Encyclopedia Britannica John Moschos lived from during the 6th and 7th centuries. He was a Byzantine monk whose work Pratum Spirituale (“The Spiritual Meadow”), describing monastic spiritual experiences throughout the Middle East, became a popular example of ascetic literature during the medieval period and was a model for similar works. He is a Saint in the Orthodox Church and his feast day is March 11.

Saint Tsarina Alexandra Romanova and the Swastika

According to one account the (Orthodox) Empress Alexandra Romanova had an affinity to the swastika:

"I then noticed on the wall in the embrasure of one of the windows of Their Majesties’ room the Empress’s favourite charm, the swastika,1 which she had put up everywhere to ward off ill-luck. She had drawn it in pencil, and added, underneath, the date, 17/30 April, the day of their incarceration in the house. The same symbol, but without the date, was drawn on the wallpaper, on a level with the bed, occupied doubtless by her or Alexis Nicolaievitch."

Here is a picture below:

This account is found in the book "Thirteen Years at the Russian Court" by Pierre Gilliard on page 274 of the 1972 edition. According to Wikipedia "Pierre Gilliard was a Swiss academic and author, best known as the French language tutor to the five children of Emperor Nicholas II of Russia from 1905 to 1918."  Speaking on the book: "In 1921, after the Russian Revolution of 1917, he published a memoir, Thirteen Years at the Russian Court, about his time with the family. In his memoirs, Gilliard described Tsarina Alexandra's torment over her son's hemophilia and her faith in the ability of starets Grigori Rasputin to heal the boy."

A dialogue between Adam and the Archangel Uriel as related by Archimandrite Ilie Cleopa

"But before the flood there will be other signs: they will carry water to them in wooden, stone, clay and goat bellows and will not be saturated with water. When they meet each other, instead of good morning, they will ask, 'Do you have water?' 'I have!' People will drink a lot of water about 500 years before the flood. And this will be a sign that the punishment of mankind is coming through water." "What about the flood of fire?" Adam asked. "The flood of fire will be the end of the world, Uriel told him. When the world moves away from God, a weed, tobacco, will appear. And people will go after these weeds, which will keep them neither full nor hydrated". The tobacco was brought to France by Empress Catherine from America and was called "Empress Catherine's Grass." But she didn't bring it for smoking, but for the bathroom. This weed, that is, tobacco, when people drink it with fire and smoke, it will be a sign that fire and smoke are coming, which will come out of them. This will be the first sign of the end of the ages. The second sign will be the cooling of faith in God and people will get very angry. The flood of fire will be at the end of the world, as it is now being prepared.

Racial themes of good and evil (Part IV)

The following story is taken directly from the OCA article on Saint Niphon, Bishop of Cyprus. I have only decided to archive it here as well, as it mentions the black face "like that of an Ethiopian", a rather common trope.

"Saint Niphon, Bishop of Cyprus was born in Paphlagonia, and was educated at Constantinople. In childhood he was gentle and good, and he often attended church services, but in his youth he began to lead a prodigal and sinful life. He sometimes came to his senses, and he was horrified by the extent of his fall; but believing that he was lost and could not receive forgiveness, he resumed his impious life.

He once met a friend who gazed into his face for a long time with astonishment. When Niphon asked why he was staring, the friend replied, “I have never seen your face like this before. It is black, like that of an Ethiopian.” These words showed to Niphon his fallen state, and he began to cry out to the Mother of God, begging Her intercession.

After an intense and long prayer he saw that the face of the Mother of God on the holy icon was radiantly bright with a smile. From that time Niphon prayed incessantly to the Queen of Heaven. If he fell into sin, the face of the Mother of God turned away from him, but after tears and prayers, She mercifully turned toward him again.

Finally, Niphon completely turned his life around and began to spend his time in prayer and repentance. After an illness, from which he received healing from the Mother of God, he received the Holy Mysteries, and then accepted monastic tonsure and intensified his efforts, exhausting his body in the struggle against the passions.

This struggle lasted for many years, and devils often attacked Saint Niphon, but with the help of God he overcame them. He received from God the gift to discern evil spirits and defeat them, and also to see the departure of the soul after death. Already advanced in age, and arriving at Alexandria, he was pointed out to the Patriarch in a vision as one worthy to assume the office of bishop. They made him bishop of the city of Constantia on the island of Cyprus. However, he did not remain there for long. Saint Niphon knew the time of his death three days beforehand. Saint Athanasius the Great visited him before his blessed repose. On his deathbed the saint was granted to see angels and the All-Pure Mother of God."

The Last Holy Liturgy in Byzantine Constantinople

I wish to share a mystical story related by Steven Runciman in from his book "Fall of Constantinople" (page 147). It speaks of events from inside the Hagia Sophia during the final day in 1453, and gives divine hope with spiritual quality.

"Then the [Turkish] sailors from both fleets and the first batches of soldiers from the land-walls converged on the greatest church of all Byzantium, the Cathedral of the Holy Wisdom.

The church was still thronged. The Holy Liturgy was ended, and the service of matins was being sung. At the sound of the tumult outside the huge bronze gates of the building were closed. Inside the congregation prayed for the miracle that alone could save them. They prayed in vain. It was not long before the doors were battered down. The worshippers were trapped. A few of the ancient and infirm were killed on the spot; but most of them were tied of chained together. Veils and scarves were torn off the women to serve as ropes. Many of the lovelier maidens and youths and many of the richer-clad were almost torn to death as their captors quarreled over them. Soon a long procession of ill-assorted little groups of men and women bound rightly together was being dragged to the soldiers' bivouacs, there to be fought over once again. The priests went on chanting at the altar till they too were taken. But at the last moment, so the faithful believed, a few of them snatched up the holiest vessels and moved to the southern wall of the sanctuary. It opened for them and closed behind them; and there they will remain until the sacred edifice becomes a church once more."

A truly marvelous story!

As his source for this story Runciman cited the Byzantine historians George Sphrantzes and Michael Critobulus, as well as the Latin cleric Leonard of Chios. Unfortunately, I have not been able to track this story down through resources online, however Runciman was a famous Byzantinologist, and thus certainly found access to the sources he cited.

St. Hippolytus of Rome's Commentary on Genesis 8

This is St. Hippolytus of Rome's commentary on Genesis 8 taken from Catena. I post it on here because a thread on Twitter would have been too impractical but I still wanted to have this commentary saved.

"Hippolytus, the expositor of the Targum, and my master, Jacobus Rohaviensis, have said: On the twenty-seventh day of the month Jiar, which is the second Hebrew month, the ark rose from the base of the holy mount; and already the waters bore it, and it was carried upon them round about towards the four cardinal points of the world. The ark accordingly held off from the holy mount towards the east, then returned towards the west, then turned to the south, and finally, bearing off eastwards, neared Mount Kardu on the first day of the tenth month. And that is the second month Kanun. And Noah came out of the ark on the twenty-seventh day of the month Jiar, in the second year: for the ark continued sailing live whole months, and moved to and fro upon the waters, and in a period of fifty-one days neared the land. Nor thereafter did it float about any longer. But it only moved successively toward the four cardinal points of the earth, and again finally stood toward the east. We say, moreover, that that was a sign of the cross. And the ark was a symbol of the Christ who was expected. For that ark was the means of the salvation of Noah and his sons, and also of the cattle, the wild beasts, and the birds. And Christ, too, when He suffered on the cross, delivered us from accusations and sins, and washed us in His own blood most pure. And just as the ark returned to the east, and neared Mount Kardu, so also Christ, when the work was accomplished and finished which He had proposed to Himself, returned to heaven to the bosom of His Father, and sat down upon the throne of His glory at the Father's right hand. As to Mount Kardu, it is in the east, in the land of the sons of Raban, and the Orientals call it Mount Godash; the Arabians and Persians call it Ararat. And there is a town of the name Kardu, and that hill is called after it, which is indeed very lofty and inaccessible, whose summit no one has ever been able to reach, on account of the violence of the winds and the storms which always prevail there. And if any one attempts to ascend it, there are demons that rush upon him, and cast him down headlong from the ridge of the mountain into the plain, so that he dies. No one, moreover, knows what there is on the top of the mountain, except that certain relics of the wood of the ark still lie there on the surface of the top of the mountain."

From my understanding the voyage would have looked something as shown in the image below. The starting point I took as the Temple Mount (Holy Mount), and the destination to be Mount Kardu as mentioned in the commentary (also known as Mount Judi or Mount Cudi)

Racial themes of good and evil (Part III)

This post is the third article in the series of "racial themes of good and evil" which I have written on my blog so far. I highly recommend going back and reading parts I and II which give an explanation of the thesis of this series and various examples from the early church fathers and martyrs.

In this article the example which will be shown is from the modern times. Namely from St. Nikolai Velimirovich's book "War and the Bible", originally published in 1931, which mentions race in a Christian context.

In St. Nikolai's book the reference to the White race is made explicit. The book starts out with an ominous warning:

"From the Holy Revelation of God it is clear to whom God will grant victory. This is clear from the example of all wars in the history of mankind, if they are considered in the coverage of Holy Revelation. The will of God gives victory to the one who has the clearest and strongest faith in God and who fulfills His law [...] If not a single Christian people repent and return to Christ, the center of their soul and life, then God will give the victory to the non-Christian, Asian peoples."

Are we not seeing this today to some extent? With the Chinese economy set to overtake the United States and the Chinese (economically) taking over African countries (the old European colonies) this is seemingly already taking place.

He explicitly makes the connection between White and Christian in his chapter "Weapons":

"These are the peoples of the white race, the peoples called 'Christian'."

St. Nikolai further writes:

"God breathed into man the striving for culture so that through it the human soul would manifest its dominance over the world of matter and its devotion and service to God. Thus, all these values would take on an angelic image through the service and love that the Lord Jesus Christ commanded . But, just as the Seraphim, who once fell away from God, who was called Lucifer, became the devil, so these values became idols, demons without God.

Note that relative satiety with these idols leads people to laziness, corruption, decay, disgust for everything, dementia and suicide (as, for example, at the end of the Roman Empire); and dissatisfaction leads to extreme grief, envy, grumbling, shamelessness, all kinds of violence and, in the end, again to suicide. In both cases, these idols breathe hatred and contempt for the Meek and Good Lord Christ and, therefore, lead to war...

You will have noticed, of course, that I am only talking about Christian peoples. I'm not doing this without reason, General. After all, it was they who fought the last World War, and they are preparing a new one. During the last 150 years, since the fight against God arose in Europe, the European peoples have fought incomparably more than the rest of the world. War was the scourge of God to make the unreasonable [reasonable]. But the unreasonable did not come to their senses. They fall deeper and deeper, fly into the abyss... Those who were chosen by God to be "salt and light" have lost their strength and faded. Although they boast that they are the salt of the earth and the light of the world, no one believes them anymore. Neither India, nor China, nor Africa anymore look at white people as salt and light of the earth, considering them insignificance and darkness. From all that has been said, it is clear that:

1) the reasons for the future war lie in the apostasy from God and the idolatry of Christian nations and their leaders;

2) these reasons are identical with the reasons for the wars from which Israel suffered and perished, which was once the salt and light of the world;

3) these reasons must be quickly destroyed by repentance and a return to God, because otherwise a whole series of future wars will undoubtedly lead to the death of Christian nations, but not Christianity itself ."

He repeats himself later in the book, reiterating:

"If God neither in Europe nor in America finds a single worthy people of the white race, then in case of war He will grant victory to one of the Asian nations..."

Further, ominous punishments are mentioned by the Saint:

Punishing "the theomachist people who have fallen away from God, the Lord sometimes sends them to distant peoples. Thus, the Israelites were brought from Egypt to be punished by the Canaanite pagans. As punishment for the Europeans, Attila and Genghis Khan were sent from distant Asia; to punish the Spaniards, the Saracens, and the Balkans, the Turks."

St. Nikolai concludes his book and writes a passage on the spiritual staet of our race and I believe it to be truly beautiful and emotional to read:

"The white race can change their spirit, correct their thoughts, tame their aspirations, for things that have no real value, and go to a good goal, for the One Who said: "I am the Way." Maybe if she wants to. But would she? From falling into the abyss to being rescued from it and safe is one step. Will people want to retreat just one step from the terrible abyss they are standing over? God is waiting for an answer to this question; waiting like a father, loving and caring. At least every day they gave God a negative answer - by His mercy and love, God waits; waiting to hear a kind answer from any people to deflect the disaster."

My brothers, it is clear: the only way forward for the White race is with Christ. If we have any hopes of changing our collective situation we should begin with changing ourselves first. We must return to Christ and His original Church: the Orthodox Church.

Racial themes of good and evil (Part II)

As a continuation to the last post on racial themes in Christianity I have compiled various examples from scripture and tradition to demonstrate the existence of racism in our Tradition. I recommend to read the first article, as it introduces this topic.

The first story is of St. Christopher the Great Martyr. As he was being martyred for his faith he received a vision. "The blessed one [St. Christopher] would say, that he saw a tall and large-bodied man, fair in countenance, who wore white garments, and with the lightning bolts flashing from his countenance, he covered the brilliance of the sun. On his head was a bright crown, and around him were soldiers with a fiery form, against whom fought others who were black and ugly, and they appeared to be victorious. But when that awesome ruler turned with anger, he frightened and trampled all those who battled against him, and he received from them authority and power." Perhaps this vision relates to Archangel Michael and Lucifer warring in Heaven, nevertheless, the symbolism is clear.

Next is the very obscure writing of St. Ambrose "Noe et Arca", which is about Noah's ark. I have only managed to find this in Latin, with it not being discussed at all in the English language. In book 1, chapter 34, paragraph 128 St. Ambrose writes the following:

"Color Aethiopis tenebras animae squaloremque significat, qui adversus lumini est, claritatis exsors, tenebris involutus, nocti similior quam diei."

This translates to:
"The colour of the Ethiopians signifies darkness and the squalor of their soul, which is opposed to light, excluded from clarity, is wrapped in darkness which is more similar to night than day"

Moving further, also on the same topic of 'Ethiopians', another Church father, Pope St. Peter I of Alexandria comments in his Canonical Epistle, in canon 4 on Jeremiah 13:23. He speaks of the "reprobate, and unrepentant, who possess the Ethiopian's unchanging skin". The 12th century Byzantine chronicler and canonist, John Zonaras comments on this canon adding that this type of people "carry about with them perpetually the inherent and indelible blackness of sin, as of an Ethiopian's skin, or the leopard's spots."

To speak further on racial themes, St. Paul in his Epistle to Titus 1:12 "One of them, a prophet of their own, said, “Cretans are always liars, evil beasts, lazy gluttons." Is St. Paul racist against Cretans? Maybe not since both St. Paul and the Cretans are White...

Hebrew-Greek Shared Lineage

To start off, I want to share a Biblical passage from the Old Testament.

“King Arius of the Spartans to Onias the high priest, greetings. It has been put in writing regarding both the Spartans and the Jews that they are brothers, and are both of the family of Abraham" - 1 Maccabees 12:20-22

And here is a nice aesthetic image to go along with this

This letter is also mentioned in Josephus' "Antiquities" 12.4.10

However, it is not only this one instance that shows the connection between the two peoples. As it is found in Diodorus Siculus' "Library of Histories" 40.3. There one can see that not all Israelites (or Hebrews if that term might be more fitting) went to the Holy Land with Moses, but some went to Greece.

"All the foreigners [Israelites] were forthwith expelled, and the most valiant and noble among them, under some notable leaders, were brought to Greece and other places, as some relate; the most famous of their leaders were Danaus and Cadmus."

Danaus, founder of Argos

Cadmus, founder of Thebes

I believe this is important historical information, in an age where many very comfortably accept the lie that the Jews of today are God's chosen people. The rabbit hole of European history goes very deep, and God's providence can be witnessed playing out.

The genetic and spiritual lineage of the "Jews" of today

In this article I wish to further help dismantle the idea that the "Jews" of today are what they claim to be. This was originally posted in the form of a thread on Twitter in response to this tweet.

Josephus and Strabo prove that original Jews intermingled with a people that they conquered: the "Idumeans".

So who are the Idumeans?

They came from Edom. Their founder was Esau, who is mentioned in the OT as son of Isaac, grandson of Abraham.

The 12 tribes of Israel spring from Jacob, Esau's twin, who was himself renamed Israel. Here thus occurs a split between the 12 tribes and the Idumeans.

In Genesis 28 (verse 8 in particular) Esau does not obey his father's command to not marry a Canaanite (Canaanites were cursed by God, as seen in Genesis 9). Whether or not you believe that Canaanites were black is not that relevant to this, but it would help explain the modern Jews' feature of curly black hair. Perhaps the curse of Canaan was similar in nature to the curse of Cain, because in his commentary of John 8:44 St. Cyril explains that Cain was the father of the Jews. After the flood such a thing could not be physically possible, but in a sense could be spiritually possible through Canaan.

As such, the Idumeans were a mixed people, physically and spiritually. After their conquest by the Judaeans as related above they mixed with Judaeans to create a race of people that was spiritually tainted and genetically mixed. This conquest and mixing, as far as I can tell, took place between the 1st and 2nd centuries B.C. The tribes of Israel, 10 out of the 13, were exiled in 722 B.C., hundred of years before this mixing took place. As such, the "Jews" of today can not lay claim to either the lost tribes or to the Judaeans which were not exiled.  The "jews" of today are a race of mixed people. They're not really Jews, as in, descendants of Judah, son of Jacob, but rather a race that mixed with the Jews.

Racial themes of good and evil (Part I)

Despite our current liberal sensibilities on race, faint hints of the faith of our fathers expose themselves in seemingly meaningless circumstances through our association certain of colors with various symbolic qualities. The colors (or rather "non-colors" if one insists on appropriate terminology) that are of importance are black and white.

The most obvious is contrasting light (which symbolizes good) and darkness (which symbolizes evil). Another example would be the color of dress relating to the specific circumstances; mostly white is worn on the day of marriage (especially by the bride, symbolizing purity), whereas black is worn at funerals (symbolic of death). Color symbolism has even found itself on our historical interpretation of the past. We look to the so called "dark" ages as being miserable, something that according to modern interpretations was overturned during the age of "enlightenment" (note: I disagree with this modernist interpretation of history). These are but a few examples I took off Wikipedia to illustrate a point.

The reason I bring this up was that I continuously find color symbolism in Christian stories, even some with an explicitly racial component, of which I will share today.

I predict that this will not be the last of such an article, given the abundance of stories of saints. Regardless, here is a short collection of Christian stories depicting racial themes of good and evil.

Firstly, I think it makes sense to reference the previous article which I wrote back in November on Saint Gregory, Bishop of Agrigentum. To summarize, the antagonists of the story "Sabinus and Crescens, along with the other malingers - more than a hundred in number - found their faces suddenly turned as black as coal (which could also be seen in their descendants for many generations), and they were punished with exile." A short read that I recommend be read in full.

Moving on, we see the story of Saint Tryphon. Given power over the demons he "summoned the demon that he discerned with the eyes of his soul, saying: 'In the name of Jesus Christ, I command you to appear here before all, that each one here may before your ugliness and weakness.' The demon then appeared before as a hideous black dog". Although not explicitly concerning race, it demonstrates a point to be proven further in this article: that demons are black in color.

A racial theme I found was in the story of Saint Peter the Tax-Collector (or Publican). Showing no pity for the poor, Peter hurled a loaf of bread angrily at a beggar that sought aid from him. As the story goes: "two days later the rich man [Peter] lay mortally ill and saw himself in a vision standing before the Judge and a pair of scales was brought before him. Some black demons were heaping up his evil deeds on one side of the scale, while opposite stood some white-clothed angels who looked sad because they could find nothing to put on their side. Then one of them said: 'True, we have nothing but one wheaten loaf, which he gave, reluctantly, to Christ two days ago.' He put the loaf on the scale, and it seemed to balance the bad deeds on the other side. The white-robed angels said to him: 'Add something to this loaf, or the demons will have you!'"

Moving on, a collection of stories from the Egyptian desert fathers was shown to me by a Russian Old Believer (they are in Russian, so either use Google Translate or seek the original sources that are cited in the article). Stories concerning saints such as Saint Macarius of Egypt and Saint Anthony the Great had the demons that waged warfare on the saints described as "Ethiopians". Some of the stories even having the "stench" of the demons emphasized

Above is the 12th century Ladder of Divine Ascent icon. Notice the demons that drag down the ascetics.

All stories have been linked to and I urge all to read through the full stories if they desire.

A few things that I should note (and it should be obvious to most, but for those that it's not I will say it) is that black people are not demons. On average (NAXALT blah blah blah) their way of life is more demonic, and that should be obvious to those with common sense. Furthermore, to those few blacks that are genuine Christians I do not write this article so as to target you. Stay on the Christian path so as not to become a "spiritual Ethiopian" but rather become be "whiter than snow" (Ps 51:7). Augustine commented on Galatians 3:28, “Difference of race or condition or sex is indeed taken away by the unity of faith, but it remains embedded in our mortal interactions, and in the journey of this life the apostles themselves teach that is to be respected”. As such: respect the difference of race in regards to mortal interactions and strive to perform the roles God has decided for you.

That being said, this article was not written for blacks, but rather for my white brothers, whom I will now address.

These stories have been passed down to us through the Tradition of our fathers. I do not believe these writings to be coincidences. I also do not believe these writings to be bygone relics of a more bigoted time. The Fifth Commandment given to us is "Honor thy father and thy mother" and that speaks also of our spiritual fathers. Shall we disregard the tales of our spiritual fathers out of "enlightened" and supposedly "rationalistic" hubris?

I say that we return to Tradition. God loves our people, even though lots of other White people, along with the world, don't love our people. We must realize our place in the world - the same world that only a few centuries ago was conquered by the White race. As cliché as it is: we must become who we are!

A thread on Saint Gregory, Bishop of Agrigentum and a new Curse of Ham

Saint Gregory was born on the island of Sicily, in the village of Pretorium, not far from the city of Agrigentum, to his pious and virtuous parents Chariton and Theodoti.

I was reading of him yesterday as it was his feast day. One aspect of his story stuck out to me.

He traveled from his homeland to Carthage, then Jerusalem, then Constantinople, the city in which he participated in the Fifth Ecumenical Synod of 553. I mention this as it is notable that he wasn't an 'obscure' saint.

Fate had it that Gregory returned to his homeland and was ordained bishop, guiding his flock. However, two malicious priests, Sabinus and Crescens, framed Gregory for fornication, using a bribed prostitute. Gregory was also accused of sorcery by judges because of the demonic frenzy of the accusing prostitute during trial.

Gregory spent two and a half years in prison on orders of the Pope (who didn't even want to read the accusations against Gregory). Gregory exited the prison thanks to the fact that a synod was convened by the Pope to judge Gregory's case once again. Gregory healed the woman of her demons, after which she told the truth and of Sabinus' and Crescens' plot.

Here is the part I found most interesting and relevant to contemporary society:

"Sabinus and Crescens, along with the other malingers - more than a hundred in number - found their faces suddenly turned as black as coal (which could also be seen in their descendants for many generations), and they were punished with exile."

In a sense this is a repetition of the Curse of Ham which saw a similar darkening of the skin for Canaan.

I read this story in the Synaxarium I bought from a Romanian monastery. I wanted to find the same story in English and I found it on this blog. Interestingly this detail is left out in the story on the OCA website.

I find this story relevant, as it further bolsters the possibility of the Curse of Ham as being related to race, and thus allowing an explanation in theological terms of truths that we observe in scientific studies and statistics today on the right.

Addendum: I think out of the spirit of peace it's important that I write that I don't post this out of ill will for darker skin folk, but rather because I feel the topic of race is often not discussed or if it is it's in lackluster, vague liberal interpretations of Galatians 3:28.

A thread on Antonescu, his Orthodoxy, execution, and subsequent smearing by propaganda.

I consider Antonescu a hero, as he ordered the crossing of the Prut River into occupied Bessarabia, to unite Greater Romania once again and free our Romanian brothers.
In the film titled “Oglinda” (Mirror) released in 1993 the director Sergiu Nicolaescu depicts Ion Antonescu as rejecting communion.

A man who was to be executed alongside the Marshall by the name of Mihai Antonescu (not related by blood to Ion Antonescu) rejected communion instead.

This factual error can be understandably be seen as a mistake, however, given that Nicolaescu’s wishes were to be cremated, not buried by Orthodox tradition, it showed that he himself was not a Christian.
With no impetus to tell the truth and with a good incentive to slander Antonescu one could see this as not a mere mistake, but as a deliberate lie!

The priest of the Jilava prison Teodor Totolici gave religious books to Antonescu. Antonescu spoke with him on several occasions, and accepted the Eucharist before execution, as is related by the priest’s son Mihail Totolici.
The execution date was kept unknown, yet how fortunate that the priest arrived exactly on that day to give the Eucharist to those who were to be executed!

Furthermore Antonescu is painted on the wall of a monastery and on the wall of a church.

He can be seen on the Mihai Vodă Monastery walls (a monastery built by Michael the Brave) alongside what looks to be then Patriarch Nicodim (can’t confirm for sure though) and one other religious figure.

Antonescu can also be seen on the walls of the church of St. Constantin and Elena alongside his wife.

Here’s a final picture of Antonescu with the Captain.

I hope this thread demonstrates that Ion Antonescu was indeed Orthodox.

He was and will always be a hero.

Memory Eternal!

A short thread on modern libel against Codreanu

The word "rhetoric" has a negative connotation in the modern discussion. It is portrayed to be intellectually dishonest and deceiving. The irony is that dishonest rhetoric in the form of lies is most frequently used by the left to shock and scare the gullible and sentimental.
In this case such "rhetoric", if we could even call it that, transforms itself into essentially libel. The first case I would like to bring forward is of leftist magazine "Slate". The article below was an infuriating read for me when I found it.
Very interestingly, Slate chooses NOT to cite its sources on the wild accusation that the Iron Guard "drank blood" in some occult initiation ceremony.
If one reads the whole article they find statements towards the end backed by sources. Unfortunately, they're boring statistics, only placed there to give the article an air of academia and reputability. The deception here is plainly seen, and it's disgusting.
In another instance the same accusation is brought about by the SPLC.
SPLC decides in this article to hyperlink sources, yet no hyperlink is found for this accusation against the Iron Guard. Once again, disgusting trickery.
Such falsehoods must be exposed, so that those of more gullible tendencies don't have this false idea about the Iron Guard placed in their head.

The Iron Guard was an Orthodox Christian organisation!
